Personal

  • Quote: "Se vuoi puoi" - Italian for "if you want"
  • How'd you get started? My uncle, Michael Mariorenzi, paddled big whitewater while doing his general surgery residency. One day as a young child I came across some of his old pictures and became enthralled with whitewater kayaking.
  • Role model: My grandfather, A. Louis Mariorenzi, because he came from nothing and is a self-made man.

Tyler started paddling slalom with Front Range Paddling Association. He now trains with former Olympian Scott Shipley. Tyler is from Boulder, Colorado and currently attends Texas State University in San Marcos. He will graduate in the spring of 2016. Tyler has been a member of the US Junior National Slalom team during the 2008-2010 seasons. He suffered a dangerous blood infection during the summer of 2012 causing him to miss his first Under 23 World championships in Wausau WI. After his illness he moved to Rome Italy to study and continue training for a few years. Aside from Slalom, Tyler enjoys having BBQ’s with his friends and playing lacrosse.
