Tori Bowie was a distinguished American track and field athlete known for her success in the long jump, 100-meter and 200m.
She was raised by her grandmother and attended Pisgah High School, where her natural speed and agility quickly set her apart in both basketball and track and field.
Tragically, Tori Bowie's life was cut short in 2023 due to complications from childbirth. Her legacy, marked by her extraordinary achievements, continues to inspire many.
At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Bowie won a silver medal in the 100 meters and earned a bronze medal in the 200-meter. She also served as a key member of the U.S. women's 4×100-meter relay team, where she helped secure a gold medal.
After making her international debut in the long jump at the 2014 World Indoor Championships, she transitioned to focus on sprints, quickly rising to prominence with eight elite Diamond League sprint victories.
In 2015, Bowie earned a bronze medal in the 100-meter at the world championships held in Beijing. Two years later, at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London, she delivered a standout performance, capturing the gold medal in the 100-meter dash.
Bowie's professional journey as a track and field athlete began in 2013, when she made her mark at the USATF Championships and earned a spot on the U.S. team for the Moscow World Championships.
A significant milestone in her career came in 2015 at the USATF Championships, where she won the 100 meters. This victory earned her a spot on the U.S. national track and field team for the Beijing world championships, where she went on to win a bronze medal in the 100 meters.
During her high school years, Bowie dominated the Mississippi state high school championships, securing titles in both the 100m and the long jump. During her senior year, she won state championships in the 100m, 200m and long jump. In addition, she won three state titles in the 4×100m relay.
Bowie earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi, where she became a two-time NCAA Division I long jump champion, winning both indoor and outdoor titles in 2011.
In 2014, she competed in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix and set an impressive indoor best of 7.14 seconds in the 60 meters at the Millrose Games.
Bowie also excelled in the Diamond League, one of the most prestigious track and field circuits, where she won multiple race events.
