Tammy is 48 years old and kayaked for the first time in Italy in 2008. 2009 Worlds will be her second race but first time in a racing kayak. She started outrigger canoeing in 2001 and has raced in OC 1, 4 man, 6 man and 12 man outrigger. Tammy loves being in a boat. She feels equal to everyone and no one can tell that she has disability which is great.
Tammy has been to lots of places that she would have never been able to see if it wasn’t for racing. She loves outrigger racing but also loves kayak racing as well; its a new love. In addition to her love of the sport of canoe/kayak racing, none of this would be possible if it wasn’t for Jan Whitaker.
