- SuGui Yang Kriss was born on July 6, 1987 in Kunming, Yunnan, China
- At age 8, SuGui was adopted from China by her parents, Charles and Marilyn Kriss
- SuGui has two brothers, Jacob and Ravi Kriss, and three sisters, Rachel, Bethany and Shanthi Kriss
- SuGui is missing some of her fingers and toes, as well as part of her right foot, due to a condition called amniotic band syndrome. She wears a brace down the length of her right calf extending into her shoe with a partial foot prosthesis attached. The shoe has a lift built into it, since her right leg is over an inch shorter than her left
- SuGui graduated from Loudonville Christian School in 2008
- She played varsity volleyball at Loudonville for four years and served as assistant coach of the varsity team
- In 2007, SuGui returned to China to spend seven weeks at her orphanage in Kunming. She stayed in a nearby apartment and walked to the orphanage each day to feed and care for the children
- SuGui enjoys cooking, photography and reading
- She listens to contemporary Christian music

- SuGui says of herself, "I thought varsity volleyball was going to be pretty hard on me, but somehow I did not want to give up. To quit was not going to be one of the choices."
MAJOR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: 2008 - Paralympic Games in Beijing (silver medal)- World Organization Volleyball for Disabled (WOVD) Intercontinental Cup in Ismailia, Egypt (bronze medal)
INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS: 2008 - Was a member of the U.S. team at the 2008 Paralympic Games, capturing a silver medal in Beijing... Saw action in a preliminary round win over Latvia... Appeared in all three sets in the win over Latvia, totaling two aces.
