Smith has made a name for herself and emerged as one of the best hurdlers in the nation after lowering her lifetime best to 54.21 and placing second at 2005 USA Outdoors… made the semifinals at the World Outdoors in Helsinki... she ended her career at Wyoming as a five-time All-American and the greatest hurdler in school history, winning the 2005 NCAA Outdoor 400mH title …She won the 60 meter hurdles at the 2004 MWC Indoor Championships and set a new Cowgirl record earlier in the year in the same event with a time of 8.33…Earned All-American honors by placing sixth in the 400 meters at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships with a new Cowgirl and MWC record time of 51.79… She also had an outstanding outdoor season in 2004…Earned All-American honors for the second consecutive season by placing third in the 400 meter hurdles at NCAAs. Her time of 55.54 set a new UW and MWC record in the event…Smith would go on and beat this personal best at the U.S. Olympic Trials with a time of 54.42 to place sixth in the event. Ran on the 4x100 and 4x400m relay teams that set Wyoming school records … Smith was also selected as the All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association in the 2004….Smith ended her sophomore year with a brilliant run at the NCAA Championships, placing 7th.
