Quick Facts
Ryan Duemler is a graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Town and Country, Missouri. He was introduced to adaptive sports at the age of two through the Disabled Athlete Sports Association (DASA), the Paralympic Sport Club in St. Louis. He also swam with the Rockwood Swim Club, a nationally-renowned organization based in in Ellisville, Missouri.

Duemler has cerebral palsy, a condition which causes his muscles to tighten so that activities such as running are difficult. His competitive nature has led him to try a variety of sports, from wheelchair and able-bodied basketball to golf and sled hockey. It was in the pool, though, that Duemler discovered a talent that earned him a spot at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as a member of the U.S. Paralympics Resident Swimming Program.

Duemler continually shines in competition at the international level. He is a member of the 2013 Paralympics Swimming National B Team and earned a total of eight first-place finishes in just two meets in 2013. At the 2013 Spring Can-Am, Duemler broke two American records, including the 400m freestyle, which had been untouched for 13 years. He is also the current record-holder in his class in the 100m and 200m freestyle (long course) and the 200-yard freestyle (short course).
