Biographical Information
Ryan Crouser is a world-class shot putter, known for his strength, technique and consistency. Crouser has set multiple world records, with his outdoor shot put personal best of 23.56 meters in 2023. He also excels in indoor competitions, where his personal best of 23.38 meters, set in 2021, broke the longstanding indoor world record.
Crouser comes from a family of Olympic “throwers” including his father and both uncles, who competed in discus, javelin, and shot put, respectively. His two cousins are also javelin throwers. Crouser started his track and field career in middle school. He began setting national records during his sophomore year at the Sam Barlow High School and later attended the University of Texas at Austin.
A supporter of children’s athletics, Crouser organized a donation event at the Salvation Army to celebrate his 29th birthday, asking all participants to donate athletics equipment for local kids.
