Natalie DeRatt was born in Sheffield, England on June 7, 1988. The native of Asheville, North Carolina attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she obtained a Bachelor's of Art degrees in english and mass communications. DeRatt played field hockey and netball through middle and high school, but she ran track at UNCA (everything from the 60m-400m.) She also competed in two track Olympic Trials ('08, '12) for team Great Britain. She was introduced to the sport of bobsled by her college track coach, Brad DeWeese, who became the U.S. Olympic Committee strength and conditioning coach in Lake Placid after she graduated. Brad's intern and DeRatt's fellow track teammate at UNCA, Keith Scruggs, then encouraged her to try the combine in 2014.

FUN FACTS
- She has a massive St. Bernard named Carmen, who she deems to be the best pup ever.
- She is the marketing coordinator for Eagles Nest Outfitters. (Go getchu a hammock!).
- She makes really good chili, which according to her is funny because she's English - not a nation of chili eaters.
