Biographical Information
Matthew Knies is an American professional ice hockey forward. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, he developed a passion for hockey at a young age, inspired by his family's love for the sport. Knies played collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota, where he earned All-Big Ten honors and showcased his scoring ability and physical style of play.
Drafted 57th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2021 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, Knies made his NHL debut in April 2023. In the 2024-25 season, he distinguished himself as one of only three players to record 25 goals and 150 hits, joining the ranks of Tom Wilson and Brady Tkachuk.
