Biographical Information

Originally from Park City, Utah, Matt Greiner grew up immersed in the winter sports culture of the community. He took his first luge run in October 2013.

Greiner's international career began at the Youth Olympic Winter Games Lausanne 2020. He quickly established himself as a force on the junior circuit, earning two junior world championship medals during his career. His junior career also featured multiple gold medals on the junior world cup circuit, including back-to-back victories at La Plagne, France, where he dominated both races.

Greiner joined USA Luge's national team for the 2024-25 season, beginning his second season on the world cup circuit. The transition from junior to senior competition proved challenging, but Greiner's determination and technical proficiency helped him adjust to racing against the world's best. His breakthrough came at the critical moment during Olympic qualification when he posted a career-best 15th-place finish at the Winterberg World Cup in Germany. The performance clinched his Olympic nomination, edging out three-time Olympian Tucker West for the final men's singles spot on the 2026 U.S. Olympic Team.
