About Matt Perushek:
Curls out of: St. Paul Curling Club
Dream job: Press secretary to the President
How did you begin curling: Like most people, I began curling because of my family. My uncle, aunt and cousin taught the junior program at the old Eveleth club, so I was there with them a lot of the time. Also, my mom and grandpa both curl. It didn’t take long for me to get hooked on the sport.
Favorite aspect of the sport: Social aspect (Curling allows you to meet people from all over the world.)
Goals in curling: My current goal is to win another medal at Junior Worlds, but in the long run, I would like to one day participate at the Olympic level.
Something unique: As far as I know, I am one of the only people to get to compete at Worlds in the same club that I grew up at (other than Molly Bonner, who is from my club). What most people don’t know is that I was heavily involved in getting the Junior Worlds in Eveleth. I was on the original Organizing Committee, and as the secretary, I co-signed the official bid to get the Worlds. I resigned from the board about 8 months before the event because I moved away for school.
