BIOGRAPHY
The youngest member of the 2006 U.S. Olympic snowboarding team - where he had to beat out the likes of 2002 gold medalist Ross Powers in order to compete (he finished fourth!) - Mason Aguirre is a rider with his own style. The lanky rider from Minnesota, who is younger brother
to pro rider Molly Aguirre, is known for his smoothness whether he's competing in the pipe or riding slopestyle.
UPDATE
Aguirre was, as always, on his "A game" again in 2009 as he stomped killer runs at every halfpipe he visited. But, it was his frontside 1080 melon grab, cab 1080 nose grab, frontside 900, melon grab, backside flat spin 540, air to fakie, switch alley-oop backside rodeo 720 at the final stop of the Dew Tour last season that earned Aguirre a huge win over an Olympic caliber field, including Shaun White. Look for Aguirre to keep his classic style going in 2010 in the hopes that it takes him to Vancouver.
FIRST TRACKS
Growing up in Duluth, Minn., Aguirre spent his time riding along with older brother, Tyler, on the slopes at age 6. The early start paid off and Aguirre made waves as he turned pro at 15. From there, his parents thought the best thing to do would be to get him around some more snow, so they picked up and moved to Mammoth Lakes, Calif., so he could pursue his snowboarding career.
