Biographical Information
Mary Bocock was just two-years-old when she learned to ski in Alta, Utah, where her family spent countless weekends navigating the terrain of Utah's legendary mountains. Growing up alongside sister Elisabeth and two older brothers, Bocock developed her competitive edge trying to keep pace with her siblings on the slopes. Her brother was born on the opening day of the Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002, and the family watched the fireworks from the hospital room — a moment that foreshadowed Bocock's own Olympic aspirations.
Bocock's rise through alpine skiing's ranks began at Rowland Hall's Rowmark Ski Academy, where she excelled both athletically and academically. She earned skier of the year honors after her first and second FIS seasons while competing on the school's state championship soccer teams her freshman and junior years. Her dedication to academics and athletics culminated in graduating high school with a 4.67 GPA her senior year. In 2021, Bocock received her first nomination to the U.S. Alpine Ski Team's Development Team at age 17, making her the youngest addition and the only new member from Utah.
Bocock tore a ligament in her knee during a parallel giant slalom in December 2021. Her comeback season in 2022-23 exceeded expectations as she captured the NorAm Overall title, securing multiple podiums and wins across super-G and downhill. This achievement earned her a world cup start and demonstrated her resilience under pressure.
Bocock made history alongside her sister Elisabeth in the 2023-24 season when both made their world cup debuts at the season-opening giant slalom in Soelden, Austria. They became the first pair of sisters to debut in the same world cup race since 1999. She continued building success on the NorAm circuit with additional podiums and victories.
While pursuing her skiing career, Bocock enrolled at Dartmouth College in fall 2023 after taking a gap year to focus on her U.S. Ski Team commitments and recovery from her knee injury. When not training or competing, she explores cafés, goes mountain biking and trail running, and enjoys water sports including sailing and wake surfing. Her favorite ski area remains Snowbird, where she first fell in love with the sport that has shaped her life.
