Career Highlights

 1996 Olympic silver medalist; 2000 Olympic bronze medalist; 1998 Goodwill Games champion; 1994, 1999 U.S. Outdoor national champion; 3-time GP Final winner.

At the 2000 Olympics, Crear became the first man since Roger Kingdom to win two Olympic medals in the 110H. Crear started running as a prep junior when the security guard/track coach at his high school, Frank Gerdine, told him he looked like he should run track. Hampered by a groin injury that first year, Crear ran junior college track while working at UPS. Jim Bush, the USC head coach, spotted his potential and offered him a scholarship. He was coached by Clem Jackson while at USC, and has consulted with former great Tonie Campbell. He has a degree in sociology with an emphasis on business. Took his infant daughter, Ebony, on a triumphant lap around the Olympic Stadium in 1996 after winning the silver medal...broke his arm two weeks before '96 Games...took most of 2002 off to complete doctorate in Christian Theology...as a practicing minister, Crear is a preacher and a counselor...became the father of Mark Crear Jr., on February 14, 2002.

2002: 1^st at Lucerne (13.43); did not compete at USA Outdoors; 5^th at Prefontaine (13.44); ran 13.36 in Lausanne ranked #5 in U.S. by T&FN; best of 13.36. 
2001: Did not compete at USA Outdoors; ran 13.26 in Brussels; 13.39 in Poznan on June 86th at Goodwill Games (13.63); 13.42 in Berlin; 13.46 in Zurich on 8/17ranked #8 in world #4 U.S. by T&FN; best of 13.26.
