Quick Facts
Years on Team: 7
Lacy Schnoor was a gymnast until an Olympic outreach program showed her the opportunities to be an Olympic aerialist. She's still new to the sport, but her gymnastics upbringing and her passion for aerials are a good combination in keeping her moving toward the World Cup. Exhibit A: 2005 U.S. aerials gold medalist.
FIRST TRACKS
A recreational skier at age 6, the ex-gymnast was recruited to freestyle when an Olympic outreach program came to her middle school before the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. "They asked me to go to an aerials camp and I just kept going...I like the rush when you go off the jumps," she explained. Schnoor is still mastering ski skills in addition to the aerials moves, but her childhood gymnastics training is a huge plus, according to coaches, who fast-tracked her to upper-level training. She started in 2002, injured a knee in 2003 and by 2005 was aerials national champion.
