Biographical Information

Nicknamed "Nego," Kyle Negomir excels across all alpine disciplines but has focused his efforts on speed events. He made his world cup debut in giant slalom at Beaver Creek in December 2018, then earned his first world cup points in November 2022 with a 23rd-place finish in super-G at Lake Louise, Canada. His breakthrough continued in 2024 when he posted a career-best 12th-place finish in super-G at Kvitfjell, Norway, followed by a 19th in downhill at the same venue. In December 2024, he achieved an 11th-place finish in downhill at Val Gardena, Italy, leading the U.S. team in all three speed races that weekend.

While living in the Denver area, he commuted to the mountains for training and returned for afternoon classes and football practice. He eventually transferred to Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy to focus on skiing full-time, then took a gap year after graduation to improve his times. In 2019, he won the team event at Junior World Championships and captured the NorAm Overall Championship title. However, in 2020, he suffered serious injuries in a training crash, causing him to miss out on an Olympic berth to the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

The injury required Negomir to make a difficult decision about his future in the sport. After spending more than two years rebuilding from the knee injury, he returned to competition with renewed focus and perspective. The recovery process taught him about his passion and commitment to ski racing, as he acknowledged it would have been easy to walk away. Instead, he used the experience to develop mental toughness and a deeper understanding of what elite competition requires. His post-injury results have validated that decision, with consistent world cup point finishes and steady progression up the rankings.

Beyond racing, Negomir maintains a well-rounded life centered around outdoor pursuits. He genuinely loves climbing, mountain biking, rafting, backpacking and touring, and participates in tennis and any other sports or activities he can find. Negomir works with SOS Outreach, where he mentors kids through experiences in nature. His friends and family remain the most important elements of his life, providing motivation and support as he pursues his athletic goals. After his ski racing career, Negomir aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon.
