Bounds has overcome challenges since the day she was born. When she was just one day old, she had a heart and lung bypass surgery. Later on, she developed asthma and was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. Despite her health challenges, Bounds started running at age 14 and has progressed quickly in the sport, using it as an escape. She earned a cross-country scholarship to Arkansas Tech University. She was sidelined with a stress fracture in 2016 when she saw the Paralympic Games on TV, inspired by fellow U.S. athlete Mikey Brannigan who also has autism. She competed at the 2017 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Championships where she qualified to represent Team USA for the first time later that summer at the World Para Athletics Championships...Daughter of Danny and Kathleen Hannigan-Bounds…Has a sister, Chelsie…Hobbies include running and Japanese anime.
