Biographical Information

After watching Apolo Ohno and Shani Davis compete at the Olympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010, Jordan Stolz and his sister, Hannah, began skating on the pond behind the family's house, where Jordan's dad cleared a track. At the age 14, he called up coach Bob Corby, who had been a coach to Olympic champion and fellow Wisconsin native Eric Heiden to come out of retirement to coach him after the death of his coach Bob Fenn.

Jordan Stolz became one of three U.S. male speedskaters to make their Olympic debut at age 17. Stolz finished 13th in 500m and 14th in 1,000m at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, but the following year he would become three-time world champion by winning the 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m at the ISU Single Distance World Championships. In 2024, Stolz repeated as triple world champion and also became world all-around champion, the youngest since Eric Heiden won it in 1978. From February 2024 to February 2025, Stolz was unbeatable winning 18 consecutive men’s world cup races across three distances. At the 2025 ISU Single Distance World Championship, Stolz won a medal in each of his signature events (500m, 1,000m, 1,500m) but did not retain his world title as he had been hampered from lingering effects of pneumonia and strep throat that caused him to miss two weeks of training.

He skates professionally for the Dutch team, Albert Heijn Zaanlander, and is well known in the Netherlands where speedskating is one their most followed professional sports.
