John Whitney was eligible to compete at the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, but turned down the opportunity to focus on his college studies. He was a member of the U.S. Paralympics Alpine Ski National Team that competed at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
John Whitney was eligible to compete at the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, but turned down the opportunity to focus on his college studies. He was a member of the U.S. Paralympics Alpine Ski National Team that competed at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Whitney had his foot amputated when he was just seven months old and was on skis by the age of five. He immediately loved being on the slopes and started racing competitively at the age of 13. He made his World Cup debut in 2005 and notched a top-25 finish in the giant slalom.
Whitney also enjoys sailing or doing “anything outdoors.”

- 2009: Third place, slalom – NorAm, Park City, Utah

- 2005: 24th place, giant slalom – World Cup, Steamboat Springs, Colorado
