Quick Facts

At the age of five, Pennie was injured due to three gunshot wounds to the side of his body in Houston, Texas. Due to the lack of any family members to care for him, he became a foster child and a resident at Hughen Center in Port Arthur, Texas. At 16 years old, Pennie was first introduced to wheelchair basketball by Randy Snow, the first Paralympian to be inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. Pennie is head coach of the Dallas Jr. Wheelchair Mavericks. He also has served as head coach of the Army team at the 2014 Warrior Games. He has also played professional wheelchair basketball in Spain and France.
