Jennifer Goeckel has been competing in wheelchair sports for over a decade. The 2008 Games in Beijing, where she competed in the women's 100m, 200m and 400m T54, were her second appearance at the Paralympic Games.

In Athens, Goeckel placed fifth in the women's T54 1500m event. In addition to track events, she also competes in wheelchair road racing events. She traveled to Manchester, England as part of the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field National Team to compete in the IPC World Cup.

After completing the 2004 Paralympic Games, Goeckel enrolled in the Rehabilitation Counseling program at the University of Arizona. She received her master's degree in May 2007 and is currently working as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor at DIRECT Center for Independence, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona. She also holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Arizona.

Goeckel currently lives in Tucson, Arizona where she trains with the University of Arizona Wheelchair Track & Road Racing Team.
