Career Highlights
Three-time USA Outdoor champion; 2006 USA Outdoor runner-up; (2003-2005); 2004 USA Indoor WT champion; 2003 Pan Am silver medalist; 9-time NCAA All-AmericanParker won three consecutive USA hammer throw titles before finishing as the runner-up in 2006. He ended the 2004 outdoor season owning five of the top six hammer throws by an American. He captured his first national title at the 2003 USA Outdoor Championships, and ended the campaign ranked #1 nationally for the first time. Parker bettered his previous personal best on three occasions in 2003 and won the silver medal at the Pan American Games...A seven-time Big West Conference champion while at Utah State University, Parker also earned NCAA All-American status nine times during his career. Parker was named the 1995 Big West Track Athlete of the Year after winning conference titles that year in the shot put, discus and hammer. Parker owns Utah State school records in the indoor shot put (18.34m/60-2.25) and weight throw (21.57m/70-9.25), and outdoor school records in the shot put, discus (58.56m/192-1) and hammer (73.32m/240-7). As a prep Parker lettered three times for coach Rudy Jones at Northridge HS. A former Utah state discus champion, Parker is also a two-time state shot put champ…A member of the Mormon faith, Parker did not compete in 1996 and ’97 while he was on his religious mission … one of four children…married to Kamilla, they have a son, James, born May 2003…majored in Exercise Science at Utah State.
