Biographical Information

Hahna Norman grew up ski racing, noting that she envied the snowboarders because they looked like they were having more fun. She spent her days off from ski racing following her brother into the park and enjoying the carefree culture of snowboarding. She remembers using a single ski as a snowboard by strapping her feet to it with her ski poles. Eventually, she made the switch from ski racing to snowboarding.

After completing her freshman year at Truckee High School, Hahna Norman moved to Colorado to attend Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, where she trained with Snowboard Club Vail and lived with coaches and teammates. Despite initial nervousness about the transition, Norman flourished in the environment, later describing her first year at the academy as one of the best of her life. Her commitment to progression was tested in 2021 when she suffered a torn ACL, forcing her to step away from competition during a critical development period.

The injury proved transformative for Norman's career and perspective on snowboarding. During her recovery, she realized the depth of her passion for the sport and returned with renewed purpose. At the 2023 U.S. National Championships at Copper Mountain, Colorado, Norman captured the slopestyle title with a memorable run that included a perfectly executed double wildcat—a trick she had not attempted since her injury.

In October 2023, Norman injured her ankle. Despite this injury, her 2024-25 campaign established her among the world's elite competitors. She reached the finals in both slopestyle and big air at the Aspen FIS World Cup Grand Prix, an Olympic qualifying event, finishing eighth in slopestyle and fifth in big air. She followed those performances with a victory at the Aspen Rev Tour and secured multiple top 10 world cup finishes throughout the season. Her consistent results earned her an invitation to the 2025 FIS Snowboard World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland, and propelled her to fourth nationally and 18th globally in slopestyle rankings, while placing second in the United States and 15th in the world in big air.
