Biographical Information

Gwyneth Philips grew up in Athens, Ohio, and started by playing local youth hockey at a young age.  Her older brother was "always looking for someone to shoot pucks on," so Philips started to play goalie even though she said, "My dad was really against it. He did not want to be the goalie dad."

Philips attended Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, Penn., and then went on to play college hockey at Northeastern University (Boston), where she was named National Goaltender of the Year in 2023.

Philips would make her IIHF World Championship debut at 2024 IIHF Women's World Championships and the following year at the 2025 IIHF World Championships would step in the gold medal game for an injured Aerin Frankel making 17 saves — including 10 in overtime as the U.S. defeated Canada 4-3 in OT.

Professionally, Philips plays in the PWHL for the Ottawa Charge and became the first goaltender to receive the Ilana Kloss Playoff MVP award for her performance in the 2025 playoffs.

Off the ice, Phillips enjoys spending time outdoors, notably camping, hiking, biking, boating and skiing. She takes her French Bulldog, Paris, along on most of her adventures.
