Biographical Information

Gus Kenworthy is a British-American freestyle skier, Olympian and LGBTQ+ advocate. Born in England and raised in Telluride, Colorado, he developed a passion for skiing at an early age and quickly rose to prominence in slopestyle and halfpipe competitions.

Kenworthy won a silver medal in slopestyle at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, solidifying his status as one of the top freestyle skiers in the world. He later switched national affiliations to compete for Great Britain at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, honoring his British heritage. In addition to his Olympic success, he has earned multiple X Games medals and is widely recognized for his contributions to the sport.

Beyond skiing, Kenworthy is an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and mental health awareness, using his platform to promote inclusivity in sports. In 2015, he became one of the first openly gay action sports stars. He often works with the Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ+ youth and established the Worthy Foundation in 2022 to support the community.

Kenworthy has also pursued acting, appearing in television and film. A passionate animal lover, he has worked extensively with rescue organizations, including adopting stray dogs from Sochi. In his free time, he enjoys creating social media content, skateboarding and chasing snow throughout the year.
