Biographical Information
Elizabeth Lemley's path to moguls skiing began with a family inspiration that has shaped both her athletic and aviation dreams. Her father discovered moguls skiing watching the Olympic Winter Games Salt Lake City 2002. He became captivated by the sport and wanted to introduce his children to it. Starting at just 9 months old, Lemley took to the slopes early, performing her first flips by age 9.
Lemley's competitive breakthrough came remarkably early. She made her world cup debut in January 2022 at age 15 in Tremblant, Canada, finishing fourth and immediately demonstrating her natural composure and technical skill. Her coach at the time noted that she slid into the icy start gate with a huge smile, completely at home in the high-pressure competition environment. That debut performance, which featured a cork 7 to a cork grab, showcased the aerial prowess that would become her signature. Just one week later, she was the top-placing American at one of the final Olympic qualifying events at Deer Valley. By the end of her rookie season, Lemley had earned recognition as the 2022 FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year and captured the junior world championship gold medal in moguls.
The 2022-23 season marked Lemley's arrival as a world cup contender. In December 2022, she captured her first world cup victory in dual moguls at Idre Fjäll, Sweden, defeating Olympic champion Jakara Anthony in the semifinals before taking down Japan's Anri Kawamura in the final. The win came in just her 10th career world cup start. One week later, she earned her first individual moguls podium with a third-place finish in Alpe d'Huez, France. That season, Lemley finished fifth in the overall world cup standings despite starting midway through the circuit, demonstrating remarkable consistency with multiple top-five finishes.
At the 2023 world championships in Bakuriani, Georgia, Lemley added two more top 10 finishes to her growing resume. Her success continued at the Youth Olympic Winter Games Gangwon 2024 where she captured double gold medals. She won the mixed team dual moguls competition alongside Porter Huff, then claimed individual gold in dual moguls, defeating Australia's Lottie Lodge in the final.
Off the slopes, Lemley's passions extend skyward. Following in her father's footsteps, she earned her pilot's license to fly four-seaters and prop planes. Growing up flying in her father's plane, she developed a love for aviation that mirrors the technical precision and discipline required in moguls skiing. She is also an avid biker, bringing the same adventurous spirit to multiple pursuits.
