Biographical Information

Daniel Laufer started curling at age 10, following his father, Bill, who had taken up the sport a few years earlier. His dad formed a juniors program at a curling club in Bucks County that included an Intro to curling course for new curlers. His dad compared curling to chess, “It’s much more of a finesse and intellectual sport. It’s like chess, where you have to think multiple shots ahead. ”

Nine years after picking up the sport, Laufer would be a junior national champion and compete for Team USA at the world junior curling championships in 2025. Later that year, Laufer would qualify for his first Olympic trials in men’s curling as front-end alternate for Team Hebert, a team based out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Off the ice, Laufer is a biochemistry major at Thomas Jefferson University.
