Young began swimming in 2005 at age seven. She was born with albinism and is legally blind. Her passion for swimming developed after she realised that she could focus on herself instead of a ball, unlike when she played soccer and softball. In 2012, she became the youngest member at 14-years-old to compete on the U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team in London. Daughter of Doug and Bridget Young has a brother, Kyle. Hobbies include reading, writing, listening to music and playing golf.
