2004 was another strong year for Miller highlighted by fourth places finishes in the mens 100 meters at the Olympic Trials, and in the 60 meters at the USA Indoor Championships. Miller has the dubious distinction of being the only man ever to run sub-10 in the 100m at the Olympic Trials (9.99) yet fail to make the Olympic team in the event. 2002 was a comeback year for Miller, whose last race in 2001 was winning the 2001 U.S. Indoor title at 200m, where immediately after crossing the finish line, he got tangled up with Shawn Crawford and Kevin Little, suffering a broken fibula in his left leg. He ran several races indoors in 2002 but ended his season shortly before the U.S. Indoor Championships when he developed hamstring problems, the result of an imbalance in quadriceps strength as he continued to rehab his leg. He came back outdoors in 2002 to anchor Team USA to victory in the World Cup 4x100m relay, and he tied his personal best time in the 100m with a 9.98 in GreshamIndoors in 2003, Miller was hot on the European Ciruit, with wins in Ghent, Lievin and Stockholm. Prior to his career at Auburn, Miller, who claims that track is his first love, accepted a football scholarship from Meridian Community College, which did not have a track program. During his senior year in high school, Miller won the Mississippi State 4-A Championship in both the 100 and 200 meters, and was also named an All-American in football and track. Miller was recognized in the February 25, 1999, issue of Sports Illustrated in the Faces in the Crowd sectioncompeted in the 2000 Olympics with a large, temporary tattoo of the U.S. flag on the middle of his foreheadAcademic All-American at Auburn graduated with a 3.0 GPA.
