Biographical Information

Natalia Grossman is an American sport climber, known for her skill in bouldering and lead climbing. She began climbing at the Pacific Edge climbing gym at the young age of six. At 15, Grossman’s family moved to Boulder so she could train with Team ABC. She attended the Montessori school, where she became a standout in the youth climbing circuit. Grossman earned her degree at the University of Colorado Boulder and while simultaneously training at the USA Climbing’s national team base in Salt Lake City.

A member of Protect Our Winters, Grossman, alongside other athletes, is also an advocate for climate change and environmental sustainability, frequently advocating for preserving natural spaces. Her incredible strength, technique and fortitude have made her a standout competitor, and she stands as a key figure in the ongoing growth of USA Climbing.

Olympic History

In October 2023, Grossman qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by winning the boulder and lead combined competition at the Pan American Games the same year. At the Paris Olympics, she finished in 11th place in the combined event semifinals.

World Cup Highlights

In 2019, she won second in bouldering and combined disciplines at the IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships in Arco, Italy and finished seventh in the 2019 bouldering world cup in Vail, Colorado.

In 2021, she won the overall bouldering title in the IFSC world cup, secured five gold medals in bouldering world cup competitions, and earned gold in bouldering at the IFSC Climbing World Championships. She also won silver in lead climbing at the IFSC Climbing World Championships. In lead climbing world cup events, Grossman finished on the podium in four of the five events, won two silver and two bronze medals, and finished second overall for the season. The next year, she won the bouldering world cup overall title for the second consecutive year and consistently placed in multiple world cup finals for lead climbing. In 2023, Grossman won multiple world cup medals in bouldering and lead climbing, including several first-place finishes and defended her title as the bouldering world cup champion.

U.S. Championship Highlights

In 2019, Grossman went undefeated in the USA Climbing Bouldering National Cup series. Grossman also won the USA Climbing 2020 Bouldering Open National Championship. Later, in 2021, she earned first in bouldering and second in lead at the USA climbing national team trials.

Early Career

Grossman's early career was marked by strong performances in national and international youth climbing competitions. She represented Team USA in various youth events, where she frequently reached the podium and gained a reputation as a climber to watch. As she transitioned to senior competitions, Grossman made an immediate impact in IFSC world cup events, consistently finishing in the top 10.
