A lifelong endurance athlete, CJ began riding and racing bikes in the spring of 2021... Competed in track and field in middle school, continued to run through high school and collegiately at UC Irvine... In his first year at UC Irvine, CJ was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his left foot which compelled the amputation of the foot below the knee... After his amputation, CJ continued to run competitively and set records for below-knee amputees... For the better part of the past decade, he has pursued rock and alpine climbing and is working to become a fully certified rock climbing guide, where he enjoys working with other Para athletes... In 2022, a year after his first para-cycling race, CJ was selected for the 2022 final World Cup and World Championship team... He loves to train and spend long days on his bike
