A member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program, First Lt. Brent Fogt's brother Chris, who won the bronze medal in the 2014 Olympics in four-person bobsled with pilot Steven Holcomb, introduced him to the sport originally. Fogt hails from Alpine, Utah and competed in track and field at Utah Valley University before trying bobsled in 2015.
At Utah Valley, Fogt ran the 4x100 with both Chris and his younger brother Mike. In his first season with USABS, Fogt competed on the North American Cup as a brakeman.
