Washburn

Brad Washburn was a rookie skier among a team of veterans during his first Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy, but quickly made a name for himself throughout the 2007-2008 season, posting the best results of any American in the standup class on both the World Cup and NorAm circuits. 

Washburn, who lost his leg below the knee when he was 11 months old, made the 2006 U.S. Paralympic Alpine Skiing Team and showed that he should be seen as a serious international contender down the road in the technical events. After a 15th place finish in the giant slalom, Washburn cracked the top-10 in the slalom, ending his first Paralympic experience on a high note.

In the off-season, Washburn enjoys rollerblading, rock climbing and backpacking in the Rocky Mountains. He's even set a goal to climb all 54 mountains over 14,000 feet throughout the state of Colorado and has currently "bagged" 11 of the peaks.  Washburn loves eating pasta and hanging with the guys.

• 2006: Third place, Super G – World Cup, Korea
• 2005: First place, slalom – The Hartford Ski Spectacular, Breckenridge, Colorado
