Biographical Information

Brooke Raboutou is an elite French-American sport climber, known for her excellence in bouldering, lead, and speed climbing. Her natural ability and extensive training have earned her global recognition and a key role in promoting the growth of sport climbing.

Raboutou was born into a legendary climbing family. Her mother, Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, is a four-time World Cup champion, and her father, Didier Raboutou, is a renowned climber who has won multiple international titles. Her brother, Shawn Raboutou, is also a professional climber specializing in bouldering. Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, Brooke had access to world-class training from a young age.

Olympic Highlights

Raboutou made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where sport climbing was first introduced as an Olympic event. She qualified for the games as one of the top 20 climbers worldwide and finished in 5th place in the women's combined event.

In 2024, Raboutou secured a spot for the combined event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by placing first in the rankings of the boulder combined event at the Olympic Qualifier Series. She won the silver medal in the combined bouldering and lead climbing event, becoming the first American woman to earn an Olympic medal in sport climbing.

World Cup Highlights

In 2019, Raboutou qualified for multiple finals in both bouldering and lead climbing at the IFSC Climbing World Cup. Then in the 2021 IFSC World Cup events, she earned a bronze medal in bouldering at the Salt Lake City World Cup. The following year, Raboutou earned silver in the bouldering category at the Innsbruck World Cup. Her breakthrough moment came in April 2023 when she secured her first IFSC Climbing World Cup gold medal in the boulder event in Hachioji, Japan. Later that year in October, Raboutou completed the second female ascent of 'Box Therapy', a boulder problem originally graded V16 (8C+), though she proposed a downgrade to V15 (8C) based on her experience.

Early Career

By the time she was a teenager, Raboutou had already set several records and won multiple Youth World Championship medals. Her transition from the youth to professional ranks was seamless, and she quickly became a standout competitor in both bouldering and lead climbing on the IFSC World Cup circuit.

At 9 years old, Raboutou became the youngest female climber to complete a 5.13b route, and by age 11, she was the youngest climber to complete a 5.14b route. By 13, Raboutou had scaled multiple 5.14b routes.
