Guerin is the only player on the 2002 U.S. Olympic team who was cut from a previous Olympic squad. Guerin, a 21-year-old amateur player at the time, was part of the 1992 Team USA's pre-Olympic tour. He was the last forward cut from the team. He turned professional after the disappointment, joining the New Jersey Devils who drafted him in 1989.
