Berit Tomten competed in the breaststroke and sprint freestlye as a swimmer and was the shortstop for her softball team in high school. She went on to compete as 1st Varsity 8 in rowing while studying at the University of Minnesota. Tomten graduated with a B.S. in Architecture and M.S. in Construction Management, and is now pursuing her career as a women's bobsled pilot.
