At age 16, a nurse walked into Gouldie’s room to ask if another patient could speak with her. Gouldie had no idea what was going on, but she agreed to speak with the patient. That is when Gouldie was introduced to her current teammate Allison Aldrich, and the game she now loves, sitting volleyball. Just over a year later, Gouldie made the jump all the way to Beijing, China, where she won a silver medal at the 2008 Paralympic Games with the U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball Team. Gouldie was also a member of Team USA when they took home the silver medal at the 2010 Sitting Volleyball World Championships.
When Gouldie is not playing sitting volleyball, she enjoys playing softball and swimming at the lake with her friends.
