Aaron Trent’s disability never kept him from competing in sports, and eventually he joined a group of friends on their regular running adventures. In 2007, after learning that his running partners were competing in triathlons, he decided to give cycling a shot. Eventually he began biking more than running and made the transition into the Cycling world.
Trent saw success right away in his new sport. He won the first track race he entered. Soon after, he achieved his goal by qualifying for the 2009 U.S. Paralympics Track Cycling National Championships. At the 2009 World Championships, Trent took home a silver and bronze medal.
Trent is currently a full-time athlete, living and training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. He studies finance at DeVry University.
At just four months old, Trent was hospitalized and given penicillin to help relieve his illness. He not only had a severe allergic reaction to the medicine, but he also ended up suffering a stroke. Trent was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy a few years later.
Trent blogs about daily life, competitions, and more. Follow him on his journey at www.aarontrent.wordpress.com and www.twitter.com/aaronjacobtrent.
