USMNT Battle To 1-1 Draw With Jamaica In World Cup Qualifying

The USMNT got off to a fast start Tuesday night in the Jamaican capital against the Reggae Boyz, but couldn’t find a winning goal in the second half and settled for one point in World Cup qualifying.
Tim Weah, who had been eligible to represent Jamaica through his mother, scored a brilliant goal after a weaving run through the box in the 11th minute to get the U.S. off to a dream start.
It was another big moment in two matches for the 21-year-old Lille winger, who played a role in both goals Team USA scored Friday night in its emotional victory over Mexico. But there would be no 2-0 victory Tuesday as Jamaica equalized just 10 minutes later.
Chances were then at a premium for the rest of the match, and some of the best ones fell to the hosts. Jamaica in fact had the winning goal in the back of the U.S. net in the 84th minute only for it to be disallowed for a foul.
The U.S. had 62% of the possession in the match but shots on goal were even at two. 
The single point moved the U.S. to the top of the qualifying table temporarily with 15 points, with Canada and Mexico set to face off later Tuesday in Edmonton, Alberta.
At worst, the U.S. will find itself in second place after eight matches with six to go. The top three will qualify automatically for the World Cup. The next match on the U.S. calendar is a December friendly with Bosnia and Herzegovina before qualifying resumes in January with a window of three more matches.
