Frank Wykoff is a three-time Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100-meter race, becoming the first man to win three Olympic relay gold medals, each in world-record time. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Wykoff first competed for Team USA at the Olympic Games Amsterdam 1928. As a member of the 4x100 team, he ran the opening leg and helped the team match the world-record time on its way to victory. He won two Amateur Athletic Union and NCAA 100-yard dash championships before winning his second Olympic gold medal as a member of the 4x100 team at the Los Angeles 1932 Games. Wykoff then anchored the same relay team at the Berlin Games in 1936, winning his third gold medal and again lowering the world record. After his athletic career, Wykoff worked as a teacher and administrator in the Los Angeles County school system until his passing in 1972 at age 70.
