The Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 year has begun, and with it, qualifications from Team USA have started to be awarded across all sports.


From longtime veterans, like six-time Paralympian Tatyana McFadden, to newcomers (and sports) on the block, such as breaker Victor "B-Boy Victor" Montalvo, the U.S. delegation is starting to heat up.


The U.S. athletes and teams below have qualified to Making Team USA, presented by Xfinity, through various Paris 2024 criteria – Olympic and Paralympic qualifying series, U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials, and official rankings and competitions.

BOXING

Boxing has three qualification tournaments to secure their 13 places at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The first qualifying event was at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Team USA qualified five athletes for Paris. The next qualification period will be at the first Olympic Qualification Tournament in February in Italy.

A newcomer to the Olympic Games, breaking is looking to make its debut in Paris. Headlined by "B-Boy Victor" and "B-Girl Sunny," Team USA will look to qualify one more male and female athlete at the inaugural Olympic Qualifier Series for Paris 2024. Montalvo qualified for Paris through winning the 2023 World Dance Championships and Choi qualified through winning the women's bracket at the 2023 Pan American Games.



Evita Griskenas will be the sole rhythmic gymnastics athlete for Team USA at Paris 2024. A Tokyo 2020 Olympian, Griskenas qualified her individual spot at the 2023 Pan American Games.


Currently, the only U.S. athlete to qualify for modern pentathlon. Davis secured the last Olympic spot at the 2023 Pan American Games. The next available qualification for male athletes will be at the Olympic World Qualifier.


A total of 14 athletes will make up Team USA sailing in Paris. Daniela Moroz qualified for the first sailing spot in the new discipline of formula kite back last summer. Three more athletes – Ian Barrows, Hans Henkel and Dominique Stater – qualified at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Sailing in Miami. The next qualification event for sailing athletes will be in March.



The USA Rowing team will head in to 2024 U.S. Rowing Trials with 21 athletes already named to the roster from selection camp. Additional athletes will be named at trials and the last chance qualifier.

With three disciplines, USA Shooting is hosting multiple trials during this spring. The first five athletes qualified for Paris in January.



Team USA's surfing team is set for Paris. Three returning Olympians and two first-time Olympians with youngest being only 18 years old, will travel to Tahiti for the Paris Olympic Games.


Open water swimming (also known as marathon swimming) is the only swimming discipline that does not go through 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming in Indianapolis. The youngest Olympian for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Katie Grimes, also became the first U.S. athlete to qualify by name for Paris 2024 after placing third at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships.


Team USA has qualified all four athletes for the Paris Olympic Games and is one of the first US teams to have a their complete roster.

In March 2024, Table Tennis hosted their US Olympic Trials. As a result of the trials, three female athletes secured their spot in Paris as memebers of the US Women's Team.


USATF kicked off their qualification period with the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon in Orlando, Florida, in February. Three women and two men punched their tickets to Paris with the third men's spot still up for grabs.

All four of the athletes who have qualified for Para track and field for Paris did so through competing at the 2023 NYC Marathon. The rest of team selection will take place during the 2024 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials – Track and Field Trials in July.
