Biographical Information

Tyler Davis grew up in Oakland, California, as the son of NFL running back Clarence Davis. Tyler Davis followed his dad by playing football collegiately at Missouri Valley College (Marshall, Missouri). Davis was an all-conference football player at the school and an NAIA All-American in the long jump in indoor track and field. 

After college, Davis played professionally in Germany, where he became a two-way player, playing both WR and DB. He was named German Football League MVP after his 2015 season with the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, and after that season, signed a reserve futures contract with the Miami Dolphins before the 2016 NFL season. After being released by the Dolphins after spending three months in the offseason with the team, Davis finished his professional tackle football career by playing in the Canadian Football League. 

Davis first tried flag football when a friend from Austin, Texas, approached him about joining a local league. In 2024, the coach of the U.S. national team noticed him at a tournament in Nashville, leading Davis to try out and make the U.S. Men’s Flag Football Team in 2025. The following year, Davis led Team USA with 13 touchdowns, tied for second among all players in the tournament, as the U.S. secured its sixth consecutive world title at the 2026 IFAF World Championships. 

His father, Clarence, had a life-changing stroke when Tyler was age 1. Tyler wears two pennants playing flag football that his father wore when he played in the NFL. Davis on following his father into a professional pro football career: “When I was a kid, I always wanted to be just like my dad, I wanted to do everything that he did. … I never really got to know my dad as who he truly was. But I have a lot of family that always tells me, even my mom tells me all the time, like I’m his twin.”
