Biographical Information

Shawn Theard Jr. grew up in New Orleans playing flag football and tackle football through high school among other sports. In middle school, he was nicknamed “Flash” for his speed on the Flag Football field. Coming from an athletic family, his younger brother Mike Lee played college football at the University of Kansas and later professionally in the XFL.

In 2025, Theard made the U.S. men’s flag football team for the first time after struggling with injuries at the previous two U.S. national team trials. He played an integral part in Team USA’s success at the inaugural Fanatics Flag Football Classic as a rusher for the U.S. men's flag football team in pressuring NFL quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels and Tom Brady, and would make his international debut at the 2026 IFAF World Championships, where the U.S. won its sixth consecutive world title.
