Biographical Information

Justin McMullen grew up in Miami and along with his twin brother, Joshua, excelled at football. After distinguished prep careers at Booker T. Washington High School, both brothers attended Western Carolina University to play football. 

After struggling to balance school, football, and the differences in Miami and Cullowhee, North Carolina, where Western Carolina is located, Justin decided to step away from the sport and return to Miami. After returning home, McMullen found flag football and credited other Flag Football players on the U.S. men's team from Miami for guiding him in the transition from tackle football to Flag Football.

McMullen made his first national team in 2026 and, at age 21, was the youngest member of the team at the 2026 IFAF World Championships. McMullen's game-sealing interception on the final play in Team USA's win over Mexico in the semifinals helped the U.S. advance to the gold medal game, where the U.S. won its sixth consecutive world title.
