Claressa already owns a piece of the history books as the first American woman to win gold in boxing and become the first American boxer (male or female) ever to win gold in back-to-back Olympic Games ...She has inspired her hometown of Flint and women across the world with her story of overcoming a difficult childhood and intense adversity to become the greatest female boxer in the world. ...The documentary chronicling her run to Olympic gold, T-Rex, has been screening across the country over the past two years and is now available on Vimeo. It will premiere on PBS on August 2. ...A studio film based on her life is currently in the works...She idolizes Serena Williams...She is the first member of her family to graduate from high school. It was important to her to set a good example for her family and everyone who looks up to her....Claressa has only had one loss in her entire career. She lost to British World Champion Savannah Marshall just months before the 2012 Olympic Games. She hasn't had the chance to avenge the loss because Marshall has lost in several international events before getting to Shields since 2012. ...She decided to start boxing after hearing about Laila Ali from her father Clarence Shields at age 11.
